Miva 5 - One Page Checkout Process From Design Extend

Miva 5 - One Page Checkout Process From Design Extend

Are you considering this Miva 5 module from Design Extend? I would think twice.

I paid $523 to have this module installed on my website back in early November. With the holiday season coming up, it seemed that this module would be a nice addition for my customers and make their purchase experience a bit easier.

Design Extend quotes around a 10 day install process, but for $75 you they will grant you a 5 day "express" install. I would suggest you go with this or you may never see the work done.

After waiting patiently for over 7 weeks, I was finally contacted by an 'Adam' with an install date. Adam is purportedly to be from Design Extend, but this turns out to be false. Adam is not from Design Extend as it turns out, but a freelancer. A freelancer with an attitude.

After asking a few questions and clarifications, Adam responses made it clear that he thought he was doing me the favor of installing this software. Apparently the fact that Design Extend and Adam were well over a month and a half late with the install mattered very little to this programing prima donna. When I confronted him on his attitude he told me to talk to the owner, I could cancel the install if I wanted (of course they would want to charge me 10%). My response was that I wanted him to install my software per our contract without all the drama. His response was and I quote:
"The hell with you. I'm not an employee, I am a freelancer and I simply let them sell my product."
When I contacted the owner of Design Extend 'Pamela' to express my dismay, her response was that Adam was a freelancer and had the right to opt of out 'Troublesome accounts'.

Troublesome accounts? What is troublesome? That I want you to install the software when you say you will and not get a bunch of grief from your so called programmer?

Here are my issues with Design Extend:
  1. Install of the "Miva 5 One Page Checkout Process" is represented as 10 days. There is no way they can install this module this quickly. They should not misrepresent this install time. I wonder how many of the people who payed the extra $75 had their install on time.
  2. Design Extend represents the 'Miva 5 One Page Checkout process' as Design Extend software and represents that it will be installed by Design Extend employees. It is neither. "Adam" made it clear that he is a freelancer and that the code he installs is his own (see the quote I have provided below).
  3. They need to change their cancellation policy. There obviously have had cancellation issues or why would you need to have a 10% cancellation charge. The programmer does no work until the install date. Most likely people like me have encounter this "Adam" and his attitude and no longer felt very comfortable having this clown have full access to their website. I know I didn't.
  4. Go back to customer service school. Blaming the customer is typically not an approach that works well over the long run.
So if you decide to work with Design Extend, do so at your peril. You have been warned.
